Machine Cancellations of Bukit Raja

Bukit Raja is one of the two mail centres for the state of Selangor (the other one is Bandar Baru Bangi, normally with the postmark designation as B.B.Bangi). The Bukit Raja mail centre normally handles mail for the northern and western parts of Selangor. The mail centre seems to have at least five cancellation machines, i.e. machine 01 (two-circle), machine 01 (one-circle), machine 02, machine 03 and machine 04. The machine 04 is mainly for the cancellation of pre-paid mail.

Machine Cancellations of Kuala Lumpur

I think in the whole Malaysia, the mail centre of Kuala Lumpur is the busiest one in handling the mail. It is not too surprise to know that the Kuala Lumpur mail centre has many cancellation machines. So far from my own observation/collection, ten cancellation machines are in used in the mail centre. I have recorded cancellation from machines number 1 to 9, however, I have not found cancellation from machine number 7. For machines number 1 and 3, two types of postmark are available - one-circle and two-circle. It is noted that machines number 1 and 3 are the most used ones for handling most of the mail. Cancellations from other machines number are considered "rare".

Cover - Germany

This nice cover framed with many stamps was sent by Igor. The cover is actually pre-printed cover with an image of an ATM stamp. The Deutsch Post has done a god job on the nice and clear postmark. The cover was cancelled at Mulheim An Der Ruhr 12 on 14 November, 2008.

Cover - Germany

Igor sent me this nice cover framed with an ATM stamp. The cover was sent from Briefzentrum 40 dated on 10 November, 2008. Also noted that the printing of value on the ATM was shifted up. The correct position for the printing of value should be on the yellow zone on the ATM.

Postal Card - Thailand

Below is a postal card from Thailand bearing stamps with images of Thai Royalty and a pre-printed elephant stamp. The postal card was sent from Lat Phrao on 15 November, 2008.

Cover - Thailand

A very nice and beautiful cover arrived at my doorstep....... The cover contains flower (water lily) stamps released lately. The postmarks are clear. The cover was sent from Lat Phrao on 15 November, 2008.

Cover - Germany

I received this nice cover from Germany dated on 16 November, 2008. There are two interesting things about this cover. Firstly, the cover used ATM stamp; and secondly the postmark is actually a slogan postmark (Messe Dusseldorf).

P/S: Igor (who sent me this cover) informed me that the ATM is actually an "error" ATM with the value printed a bit too high on the ATM. The actual position for value printing is at the yellow area (bottom) of the ATM. Therefore, this cover has another bonus point!

Malaysia - Slogan Postmark

Pos Malaysia introduced a slogon postmark (machine cancellation) during Adilfitri Festival lately. The slogan postmark reads as below:

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri
Maaf Zahir & Batin
Dengan Ingatan Tulus Ikhlas
POS

I notice that only the postmark from Kuala Lumpur during the period has this slogan cancellation, and only machine number 3 was used for this cancellation. However, it looks like there are two machines number 3 for Kuala Lumpur Mail Centre - one with one circle in the postmark and the other with two circles (this one is shown in the below picture). Both the machines number 3 of Kuala Lumpur used this slogan cancellation. I'm happy to be informed if there are other mail centres introduced this slogan cancellation during the Aidilfitri Festival this year.

Agro-Based Product State Definitives: Kedah 30c

I obtained the below block with plate number 11A for Kedah 30c agro-based product definitive some ago. The perforation of the stamp is P14.75x14.5. Kedah 30c with this type of perforation is not common. The SG catalogue in 2005 did not list this variety, but listed P14x14.5 and P14x13.75 types. Nevertheless, what make it more interesting is the below block Kedah 30c has inverted watermark. I don't have the latest SG catalogue, therefore, I don't know the catalogue price for this vareity. I love to be informed its catalogue price. Could any of you help?

2008 - Seashells

Pos Malaysia released a new stamp issue on topic of seashells today. The issue contains four stamp designs (two each for 30 sen and 50 sen) and a miniature sheet (RM2). The size of the stamp is rather small (25.5 x 22 mm), and the size of the miniature sheet is also in the range of small size (90 x 60 mm). In general, the design of the stamps and miniature sheet is beautiful. This is the first time for Malaysia postal authority to issue stamps on topic of seashells.

Agro Based Products State Definitives: Denomination in sen

Agro-based product state definitive stamps have the most number of varieties in terms of perforation, watermark and gum type. Starting in 2002, some of these agro-based product state definitive were printed in denomination of "sen" instead of "c". This has contributed further to the existing varieties for these state definitives. However, only a few states (Wilayah Persekutuan, Pulau Pinang, Kedah, Selangor, Pahang and Johor) released this new variety, and most of them were recorded for the denomination 30 sen. Only Wilayah Persekutuan has four denominations with "sen" i.e. 5 sen, 10 sen, 20 sen and 30 sen. The other five states (Pulau Pinang, Kedah, Selangor, Pahang and Johor) produced only 30 sen stamps........ Well, when you scroll down this page, you may notice that the 30 sen Johor is not there.......... because I have not yet owned one :(
